Whether you’ve voted red, blue, or neither — this moment affects you, your family, your healthcare, and your future.
The "One Big Beautiful Bill," now being debated in the Senate, is being marketed as an economic revival plan. But once you unpack the numbers, the buried provisions, and the hidden trade-offs, a darker picture emerges.
This bill doesn’t just tilt the scales. It flips them entirely — away from working-class Americans and toward the ultra-wealthy, all while gutting essential lifelines that keep millions alive and afloat.
This is not exaggeration. This is fact.
These are NOT abstract policy shifts. These are real, devastating blows to millions of lives:
Medicaid Rollbacks
- Could strip 8 to 16 million Americans of health coverage by 2034.
- Adds harsh work requirements, bureaucratic red tape, and new co-pays.
- Long-term care, CHIP, and rural health centers will suffer. Some may close.
If you’re a cancer patient, a parent, a caregiver, or elderly — this could directly impact your access to doctors, treatment, or even survival.
- Shifts 5% of benefit costs and 75% of admin costs to already-strained states.
- Adds new federal penalties for states with error rates — threatening services.
Imagine being punished because your state can’t handle the new red tape fast enough.
- Eliminates EV, wind, and solar incentives — ending Biden-era energy investments.
- Could kill up to 800,000 clean energy jobs.
- Will raise energy bills for many Americans, especially in low-income communities.
- Cancels staffing improvements for care facilities.
- Blocks modernization efforts in Medicaid and children's health programs.
- Delays badly needed cancer center funding and innovation rollouts.
- Corporate tax rates stay slashed.
- High earners get to keep their lower income tax rates indefinitely.
- Restores bonus depreciation and pass-through deductions — benefiting private equity and real estate moguls.
- Includes new tax shelters masked as “MAGA savings accounts.”
While working families will lose access to care and food, billionaires will be passing down fortunes tax-free.
Hidden inside the hundreds of pages:
- $150 billion for drone-based missile defense systems, branded “Golden Dome.”
- Unlocking federal land for high-end private development — without environmental guardrails.
- The public loses, developers gain.
As a 25-year cancer scientist, CEO, and global advocate — I cannot overstate this:
- Medicaid is the lifeline for millions of cancer patients, including children.
- Food security is critical for healing and long-term survival.
- Clean energy is public health policy. Pollution exposure is linked to rising cancer rates.
This bill rolls all of that backward. I have met patients who would not be alive today under this bill’s rules.
This is the moment to act. Here's what you need to do:
- Call your U.S. Representative and both Senators — Republican or Democrat.
- Find them here: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
- Tell your story.
- If you’re a cancer survivor, caregiver, single parent, student, nurse, veteran — your voice matters more than you know.
- Say clearly: "Vote NO on the Big Beautiful Bill. This will hurt my family and community."
- If you’ve never called before, now is the time. Calls are recorded and summarized for elected officials.
- Stories are powerful. Congressional staff read them into the record before every vote. Be heard.
You might have voted for Donald Trump. You might have voted for Joe Biden. Maybe you’ve never voted at all. But here's what matters:
- Cancer doesn’t care who you voted for.
- Hunger doesn’t care who you support.
- Bills don’t wait until Washington figures it out.
This bill will break the backs of working families — Republican, Democrat, and Independent alike.
